Easter Weekend

Posted by

Easter weekend was wonderful. We had 2 celebrations. We spent Saturday at Grandma and Pap’s with Aunt Erin, Uncle Rob, Dorian, Lydia, and Great-Grandma. It is so great having family around. Abby loves playing with her cousins. Abby and Dorian ran around the house trying not to run over Zach and Lydia. Though, Lydia can walk now so there was no fear of her getting run over. Zach is still trying to crawl.

After dinner we all went outside to enjoy the wonderful weather we were experiencing. Abby and Dorian made a new friend while outside. The neighbor behind my in-laws has a daughter who appeared to be several years older than Dorian and Abby. They were throwing a ball back and forth over the fence to each other. If there had been a gate Abby would have been over at her house. Abby can be such a social butterfly at times. She loves playing with kids near her own age.

The most amuzing thing about Easter was that my in-laws lost their power. We were still sitting finishing up dinner when the dinning room lights dimmed. We all began talking about how strange that was. Then we heard a buzzing and the lights completely turned off. Then someone looked out the window and said the transformer that is outside of their house was smoking. 3 police cars and fire truck then showed up. The kids, of course, loved seeing the lights flashing and the police officers and firemen. We stood out in the front yard just watching them. The police directed traffic while the firemen assessed the situation. It was not on fire so they ended up leaving. My in-laws did not get their power back until midnight.

Then on Sunday morning Abby came down before church and found her Easter basket was missing. There was a clue for her and we started the bunny trail. She had a great time this year listening completely to the clue and then doing what it said to find her next clue. We still had to guide her a little to find the prize and clue, but she did much better than last year. She loved it.

We then went over to the in-laws again that afternoon after naps for left over ham sandwiches. Yum! It was a great weekend.

The Bunny Trail

Posted by

Growing up the Easter Bunny (my Mom) would leave both my sister I a trail each year to find our Easter baskets. It was known as the bunny trail. Each clue would have a small gift or candy with it and directions on where to go for the next clue. We loved it and kept it up all through high school.

Last year, when Abby was 2, was the first year we started doing it with Abby. It went fairly well and she seemed to like it. Though, with each clue she would get distracted by whatever was there and we would have to redirect her to keep going on the bunny trail. Today I have just finished making the clues for the bunny trail. We still need to go out and get the candy and whatever we want to put in her basket. We aren’t extravagant with this holiday, but just do some candy and maybe some small gifts like art supplies.

I’m glad I was able to be home yesterday and today so I could get this done for Abby. Zach is sick again with a double ear infection and a cold. Poor guy! It seems like every time he gets a cold recently it turns into an ear infection.

I will let you know how the bunny trail goes this year.

Daddy ended up carrying the bike instead of Abby riding it. Though, I love them all holding hands.
